据《宣德彝器图谱》记载，戟耳炉仿照宋瓷款式而制，因其耳如兵器中的戟头而得名。戟为御赐刑部尚书及左右之物，寓意执戟捍邦卫国，平准天下正义。此炉身为簋式，口沿微撇，束颈，戟耳分矗于两侧，其上下端圆，弧曲较短，耳孔圆润。表面闪烁着离奇、晶莹的青绿色铜斑，造型古拙，皮壳老熟，款识少见，值得珍之。
