此盘以紫檀木制成，盘体以透雕琢硕大荷叶，上浮雕两只小螃蟹及芦苇，是“二甲传胪”的典故。《明史·选举志》中说：“会试第一位会元，二甲第一为传胪”后多以螃蟹两只衔芦苇寓意“二甲传胪”。底雕以一束莲根盘绕成足，有荷叶、有莲蓬、有青蛙，生动形象，寓意“一束清莲”，明清以来多为传用。此物雕工上乘，所刻为写实的池塘小景，亦可称为“满池娇”。
