宋时崇尚斗茶之风，“建盏”则是当时斗茶最佳的珍品，颇受文人喜爱。宋代著名的文人墨客有许多名句来称颂它：“兔毫紫瓯新”、“忽惊午盏兔毫斑”、“松风鸣雷兔毫霜”等。建窑兔毫盏尤受推崇，宋徽宗曾盛赞其“最为要用”。宋徽宗在《大观茶论》中称：“盏色贵青黑，玉毫条达者为上。”这种胎体厚重、兔毫居多的茶盏在宋代颇为流行。拍品碗型较大，胎体厚重，为一件典型的建窑兔毫茶盏，束口，斜腹，小圈足。通体施黑釉，至底垂釉明显。口沿釉薄处呈铁锈红色，毫斑纹理纤细，中间以斑驳的丝纹过渡，斑纹层次感强，静逸脱俗，美不胜收。
