Susanna and the Elders is a much explored biblical subject among Old Master painters beginning from the 15th Century. Susanna\'s story, also referred to as Soshana orSosana, was featured in the Book of Daniel and was used to explore themes of virtue, justice and morality. When blackmailed for refusing to have sex with two localcommunity elders, Susana maintains her honor but is subsequently put on trial for alleged promiscuity.
