By Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927), Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th centuryWorked in silver wire of varying gauge with three oval light-blue panels enclosing seasonal flowers, one with two butterflies hovering among trailing wisteria, the second with a shrub of sansho bara (Rosa hirtula), the third with two butterflies among flowering cherry branches, all reserved on a dark-blue ground of chrysanthemum heads, the cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a silver chrysanthemum knop; signed directly on the silvered metal plate with engraved characters Kyoto Namikawa. 8.3cm (3¼in) high.
