An initial partnership with a George B. Jacques had the firm trading under the name Jacques & Marcus until 1892 when Jacques retired and the company began trading as Marcus & Co. Known as widely for their subtle, intricate and innovative techniques as for their use of exceptional gemstones, the Marcus triumvirate enjoyed huge success in a remarkably short period. Having successfully navigated the Depression, the onset of World War II and accompanying luxury taxes proved too much and the firm was sold to Gimbels in 1941 and it subsequently merged with Black, Starr & Frost in 1962. 德國移民赫爾曼•馬庫斯(Herman Marcus舆 他兩個兒子William及 George於19世紀在紐約創立了Marcus & Co,最初與合作夥伴喬 治•雅克斯(George B.
