signed 'Verneuil à Dijon', circa 1810The inverted "Y" frame supported by gilt gryphons on a black marble base, the central gilt bezel surrounds an annular white enamel roman chapter ring with arabic date ring open to reveal motion work, gilt hour and minute hands, blued date and sweep seconds hands, upper bezel enclosing an enamel landscape with aperture for age and phase of the moon, lower bezel with white enamel ring for the days of the week and their ruling deities, the frame holds a further silvered disc engraved with zodiacal annual calendar and concentric tables listing the daily variations of the Equation of Time, sunrise and sunset, each indicated by a blued pointer, the back frame with fine spring suspended gridiron pendulum with thermometer scale, beat adjustment to crutch, twin going barrels, pinwheel escapement, count wheel striking the hour and half hour on a bell 26 in.
