据佛传记载，释迦牟尼佛曾在菩提树下入禅定境界，开悟无上菩提，并打败了魔王及其庞大魔军，此尊造像就表现释迦牟尼佛树下证道的形象。此尊具高肉髻，顶置牟尼宝，饰有螺发。面庞方正，眉眼平顺，表情肃穆之中带有一丝喜悦，展现出佛祖在彻悟无上菩提时的喜悦。上身躯体匀称，着袒右肩袈裟，袈裟一角反敷于右肩上。袈裟边缘饰有卷草纹饰，华丽而精美。左手结印，右手结触地印。下身着贴身僧裙，双腿结跏趺坐于莲花座上。整像包浆醇厚，工艺精湛，造型端庄，莲座的样式别具一格，上层仰莲由叠压的素洁莲瓣组成，与明代千层仰莲有着异曲同工之妙，下层覆莲宽大平缓，其样式多见于宣德时期的宫廷造像中，展现出明代汉地能工巧匠的奇妙构思。
