A ZITAN SCEPTRE WITH PALE CELADON JADE INSERTS, CHINA, LATE MING DYNASTY, 17TH CENTURY The sceptre is in good condition with the exception of very minor losses and with some very small pieces re-stuck, one jade plaque with some small pieces broken, the head have been re-attached at some point to the shaft with some small pieces possibly of later wood and restored some time ago, the sceptre is quite dirty and would need a professional restoration. 44 cm long, 7,5 cm high, 9,4 cm wide ' 1.500 - 2.000 The hardwood sceptre inlaid with three different jade plaques, well arved in openwork with birds amongst lotus flowers and leafy tendrils. The jade is of a white pale green celadon tone.
