黄花梨为名贵木材，明清时期常用以制作文房用器，因其纹理清晰华美，故多不加雕饰，以突显木质自然美感。
笔筒以优质黄花梨制成，唇口略外撇，线条圆润，胫部起宽弦纹一周与口沿相呼应，套镶圆底。通体光素无纹，包浆古朴，尽显洁净雅韵。传世近四百年而仍存原貌，较为难得。
