拍品以和田玉料为材，玉质细腻温润。圆雕龙马和神龟踏浪前行，回首对望，龙马背负河图，以结带捆扎成卷，神龟则驮载厚厚的洛书。雕刻工艺细致，龙马鬃毛、神龟颈部鳞片、水涡纹均规整细密，马头磨工细润，肌骨分明，体现精湛的玉雕技艺。神龟颈部巧借玉料墨绿色部分为之，尤具匠心。
河图洛书为古代传说，《周易·系辞上》载：“河出图，洛出书，圣人则之。”历来被认为是中华文化之起源，明清雕刻工艺上出现的神龟和龙马负书的造型，均是文人书斋用品或陈设、赏玩件。
