Meiji eraDecorated in polychrome enamels and gilt with a bearded sage riding on cresting waves above a large white-hued dragon and accompanied by numerous Buddhist rakan in an imaginary landscape with pavilions and temple buildings, a pair of smaller dragons encircling the shoulder, portions of the design rendered in high relief, the cartouche on the base with a Shimizu family crest and inscribed Dai Nihon moto Satsuma-yaki Yoshiyama kore [o] tsukuru (wear to gilt).24 3/8in (62cm) high
