Vajrabhairava (Yamantaka). Tibet. Old partially fire-gilt copper sculpture. Cold gold and polychrome painting. Lotus pedestal separately casted and removable. Height 25.5 cm (10"). Weight 3500 g. From private German collection. Very rare emanation of Vajrabhairava with four faces and another wrathful face on top of the heads. His inner hands holding a kila (tib. phurba), his outer hands holding a damaru, a kartika, a kapala and a tantric wand. Standing with his consort on two corpses and a lotus pedestal. Wrathful facial expressions and flaming hair. Bottom covered with consecration plate with seal. Slight signs of age and wear.
