A Sienese carved walnut casket in Renaissance revival taste, circa 1875, almost certainly by Gosi & Querci, the hinged cover with a raised relief carved panel of cavorting amorini flanked by gryphons, within an acanthus carved ogee border, within a recessed border carved with trailing vines, above a dentilled edge; the front and back each with further panels of amorini carved in relief, the ends with entwined zoomorphic forms, the corners with Grotesque masks within confronting scrollwork, above further stop-fluted, beaded and other mouldings, on feet carved as stylised dolphins; the cover interior with painted armorial and silk damask lining., 36cm high, 73cm wide, 46cm deep overall
