Meiji eraThe kodansu with slightly domed top and sides bearing butterflies in gold and silver hiramaki-e, two hinged doors at opposite short ends framed by raised border decorated with mon on geometric pattern, each opening to reveal various drawers, 28cm x 12cm x 12cm; together with a box and cover lacquered with a dense design of birds and chimes amidst flowering branches in gold hiramaki-e and nashiji on black ground.29.5cm x 13.5cm x 14.5cm (2).
