Meiji era, 19th centuryThe first with domed cover with knop finial and three stylised marquise-shaped panels on a ground of scrolling foliage, the vase with band of stylised leaf-shape panels to shoulder above a further band of marquise-shaped panels upon a scrolling foliate band over another band of lappet panels alternating phoenix and dragon designs, reserved on speckled ground, further foliate bands to stepped foot, bearing Ota Jinnoei mark to base, 30cm high; the second a baluster vase of hexagonal-section with engraved copper mouth rim, the neck with scrolling foliate, the shoulder alternating shaped panels of dragons and butterflies above a band of lappets featuring phoenix and dragon designs, all over a deep blue ground, the stepped foot with further band of stylised design, the base cast in high relief with a coiling phoenix.25.4cm high (3).
