Kangxi six-character mark but late 19th centuryThe slender necked globular vase covered in lustrous black glaze, thinning to dark brown at mouth and pooling at foot, clear glaze to interior and base within broad ridged footrim.45.4cm high, and with pierced and carved wooden stand (2).
|Property of a lady. Formerly part of a senior Indian civil service official's collection (Knight Commander of the Indian Empire, KCIE, and awarded the star of India), formed whilst in the Indian civil service and during travels in Indo-China and Japan circa 1900-1930. Thence by descent.
