Showing a raging battle between cavalry, pikemen and bowmen, some riding atop battle elephants, in a later frame, 81cm wide x 2.5cm deep x 81cm high, (31 1/2in wide x 0 1/2in deep x 31 1/2in high)
|A faithful copy of an engraving by Cornelis Cort (c. 1533 - 1578) of 1567, ultimately deriving from tapestries designed by Guilio Roman (1499 - 1546), a pupil of Raphael's, for Francis I in or around 1532.
