|Horace Minns was born in 1887 in Woking. By the time of the 1901 census his family was living in London where he seems to have been taken on by a Swiss born jeweller called Joseph Hodel. The pair had moved to Liverpool by 1910 where their names appear in Arts & Crafts catalogues, with Minns described as executing the designs of Hodel.By 1911 Minns had moved back to London referring to himself as 'goldsmith, silversmith, jeweller, art metal worker'. He subsequently appears in numerous exhibition catalogues up to 1926 executing the work of Edward Spencer and the Artificers' Guild. The 'Minns Howie' mark is a mystery in that the identity of Howie is seemingly unknown.Literature:The Studio 1913, Vol. No. 58E.
