A pair of incised bronze scroll weights


Cyclically dated dingwei year, corresponding to 1847 The flat weights forming a quatre-lobed plaque when placed together, finely carved with a large shou character and a pine tree arcing across the face of a cliff, with five lines of inscription.Each: 15cm (5 7/8in) long (2).
|The inscriptions on the weights may be translated as:賀鑽祥 老人 he zuan xiang, 'Old man He Dianxiang'花甲壽祥 huajia shou xiang, '...'寿比南山不老松 shou bi nanshan bu laosong, 'May you be as long-lived as a pine from Mount Zhongnan'丁未春仲愷敬獻 ding wei chun zhongkai jingxian, 'Cheerfully and respectfully presented on the second month of the spring of the ding wei year'
