|清乾隆 白玉素盌Provenance: an English private collection來源:英國私人收藏The white jade bowl with a translucent tone, perfectly finished with a lustrous sheen and carved with gently rounded sides and flaring rim, reflects the high quality of jade made available after the Qianlong emperor's conquest of Khotan in Xinjiang. Compare with a white jade bowl, Qianlong mark and period, illustrated in the Compendium of Collections in the Palace Museum: Jade, Beijing, 2011, vol.10, pl.164; compare also with a pair of white jade bowls, 18th century, of similar shape and size, in the British Museum, illustrated by J.Rawson, Chinese Jade from the Neolithic to the Qing, London, 1995, p.400, no.29:13. See a similar jade bowl, 18/19th century, which was sold at Christie's New York, 14 September 2012, lot 2580; see also another smaller white jade bowl, Qianlong, which was sold at Bonhams London, 9 November 2012, lot 261.
