An engraved commemorative rummer of Royal Naval interest, circa 1800, with square pedestal base, inscribed NELSON AND WARREN FOR EVER, 20.5cm high Note: The rummer commemorates Admiral Lord Nelson (1758-1805) who needs no introduction, the Warren mentioned refers to Admiral Sir John Borlase Warren, 1st Baronet (1753-1822), intrepid frigate commander and latterly Admiral, diplomat and politician. He commanded one of two squadrons during the disastrous Quiberon Bay expedition of 1795 but also had a number of successful cruises. He was also c-in-c of the North American Station 1807-10 and again 1813-14 during The War of 1812, promoted admiral in 1810.Provenance: The A. Leonard Fuller collection.
