|本拍品白玉质地，局部着红皮，寓意鸿运当头，牛雕琢生动，双角翻卷，脸部刻画细致，前脚伏于地上，脊背突起，麒麟仰首依偎，大牛怜爱有加，有护犊情深之意。玉牛在中国一向广受喜爱，中国人对牛的认知一向是尽忠职守，勤奋努力，坚毅而不屈，有力但祥和温顺。古称麒麟为仁兽，雄性为麒，雌性为麟，或合而简称为麟，是祥瑞象征，且能吐玉书。传说「有王者则至，无王者则不至」或「王者至仁则书」。牛生麒麟预示着圣主临朝，天下太平，以此为题材治玉，寄愿天降祥瑞。此件工料俱佳，宜作纸镇，可赏可玩。
