Limited to only 55 pieces, the present exquisite example is numbered 12. The triumph of this Ref. 80251 lies in its powerful, complex movement, combining a perpetual calendar and a tourbillon, alongside a 250 hour power reserve. Driven by the quadruple-barrel Calibre 2250, the 250 hour power reserve, intentionally engineered for the number of hours to match the celebration year, is measured on two arc-shaped indicators, one for each pair of barrels respectively. Vacheron Constantin's highest level of craftsmanship continues across the dial of this beautiful wristwatch, with the Poinçon de Genève or Hallmark of Geneva quality proudly displayed on the main dial, which alongside the sub-dials, rings and tracks are further embellished by three different types of engine-turning and finishing. The tourbillon aperture reveals the Vacheron Constantin Maltese Cross forming the tourbillon cage as it rotates once every 60 seconds. Finally, the 44 millimeter case sculpted in platinum gives this exceptional watch an unmistakable presence, worthy of Vacheron Constantin's immense contribution to Swiss watchmaking since 1755. According to our research, this is only the fourth time this watch has ever appeared at auction since its release in 2005.
