金刚杵为佛教诸多神灵常持的神圣法器，具有“摧毁敌者”的作用，此杵为五股金刚杵。五股表五智五佛，其中一股象征佛之实智，其余四股则为四佛权智之标帜。此杵正中股刃粗壮有力，棱角分明，其余四个弯曲股叉，线条遒劲，股叉富有力量之美；中部杵心扁平敦实，上下系三绳，其上饰莲花承托杵心，莲瓣宽平肥厚，带有早期异域佛教艺术的造型韵味。金刚杵整体为合金铜制作，做工古拙，蕴涵着宗教威严之感，与云南省博物馆收藏的宋代大理国金刚杵非常近似，是一件十分难得的法器作品。
