大肚弥勒佛源自于五代高僧契此驻世时的形象，因契此和尚常以笑容应对世人对他的误解，且圆寂时留有弥勒偈语，使这种惹人喜爱的憨态形象取代原有弥勒形象，在中原汉地广为盛行，并流传至今。此尊肥头大耳，面庞丰圆，双目微眯，喜笑颜开，令人见之忘却烦忧。身躯矮胖，肚腹圆鼓，僧衣搭于两肩，垂顺而下，曲折流畅。左手持衣缘，右手捻念珠。双腿舒坐，自然写实。整像木质精良，漆金沉稳庄重，人物造型生动，刻画娴熟老道，展现出清代汉地匠师的精湛技艺。
