Nephrite, Enamel and Moonstone Letter Opener with Owl Handle


circa 1915 Designed in the traditions of Fabergé, surmounted with the head of an owl rendered in cast and chased silver, set with two cabochon garnet eyes, stamped with maker's mark SR and bearing European hallmarks. An edging of small brilliant-cut diamonds, between borders of yellow gold, set to the front with a circular cabochon moonstone, with translucent green enamel on a guilloché ground, and white enamel decoration, the blade carved of Russian nephrite, length 8in.
