Falklands War 1982, a framed drawing by Linda Kitson, inscribed, signed and dated 11pm 31st May 1982 depicting Major Ian Winfield RE relaxing on board the S. S. Canberra, a miniature medal group of three comprising Second World War Defence Medal, General Service Medal (Northern Ireland) and South Atlantic Medal with rosette, together with full-size Defence medal, all formerly awarded to Major Winfield, together with an original typescript for 'The Posties Went to War' by Major Winfield and two dozen original colour photograph taken by him during the Falklands conflict. A very interesting lot Linda Kitson (b.1945) was the official war artist for the Falklands conflict, appointed by the Imperial War Museum. She embarked from Southampton in May 1982 on the QE2, sailing for South Georgia, then sailing onboard Canberra from South Georgia to the Falklands. Major Ian Winfield served with 2 Postal & Courier Regiment Royal Engineers in the conflict, and his experiences were published as 'The Posties Went to War' in 1999. On 1st June 1982 he set up a postal distribution centre in Ajax Bay, which sorted and distributed 400 tons of incoming mail for the troops. After the Argentine surrender he continued operations at the Post Office in Port Stanley.
