A Regency inlaid mahogany mercury wheel barometer, F. Lombardini, Totnes, early 19th century With open triangular pediment and marquetry rosette over double-line strung baluster outline upright applied with arch-glazed Fahrenheit scale alcohol thermometer flanked by conch shell motifs, the 8 inch rosette and star centred circular silvered register signed F. Lombardini, Totnes, Warranted within concentric scale annotated in barometric inches with the usual observations to circumference and generous glazed cast brass bezel fitted with a brass recording hand to the glass, the rounded base with further marquetry rosette, 96cm (37.75ins) high excluding finial. F. Lombardini is recorded in Banfield, Edwid BAROMETER MAKERS & RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working in Totnes, Devon circa 1810-30.
