Two gem-set brooches, circa 1850


1st: The openwork scrolling quartrefoil brooch and detachable pear-shaped pendant engraved with floral and foliate garlands, embellished throughout with bead accents and interlocking vine leaves engraved with scrolling foliate detail, the brooch collet-set with oval-cut aquamarines, the pendant collet-set with a cushion-shaped aquamarine, mounted in gold, 2nd: Of scrolling architectural form, engraved throughout with acunthus leaves and scrolling foliate motifs, decorated with bead and ropetwist detail, accented by vari-cut garnets and smaller vari-cut chrysoberyls, suspending two serpent-link swag and tassel drops of unequal length, mounted in gold, 1st: damage to pendant, lengths: 1st 9.0cm, 2nd 7.0cm (3)
