CONNECTICUT-NEW YORK BOUNDARY DISPUTE.
WYLLYS, SAMUEL. Autograph Document Signed ("Samuel Wyllys"), 1 p, 4to (185 x 190 mm), New Haven, "Second Thursday of October, 1773," stating that the Assembly will assert their claim "to those lands contained within the Limits and Boundaries of the Charter of this Colony which are Westward of the Province of New York," some toning, docketed on verso.Throughout the 17th and into the 18th century, the colonies of Connecticut and New York disagreed over the border between them. The dispute was officially resolved in 1731, but continued for decades after, as this document (a true copy of the official Assembly record) attests.
