小叶紫檀生长速度缓慢，5年才一年轮，要800年以上才能成材，硬度为木材之首，系称"帝王之木"。此件翘头案通体以紫檀为材，案面两侧飞翘，中部打槽装板，面板三拼。饰浮雕夔龙纹牙条一周，线条苍劲有力，配合紫檀色泽，更显古朴。紫檀打磨后，木质极富油感。此件翘头案包浆厚重，有犀牛角般润泽，并有细密、漂亮、生动的牛毛纹，为清代奢华家具的重量之作。
