此书箱选紫檀木精作，通体素面无光，器身周正工艺精细。箱呈长方形，包镶铜边，两侧有铜把手，正面有圆形铜扣，，盖箱口接处起阳线，正面如意云头拍手，两侧面安有铜提环。造型规整，整体清雅秀丽，放置于书房增其使用者的品味，实为书房雅玩之佳品值得注意的是，箱体六面皆以紫檀独板拼合而成，最宽的板材宽度大，常言十檀九空，多年的开采大料紫檀早已消耗殆尽，目前最大的紫檀木直径仅为二十公分左右，唯有古时器具尚有留存，其珍贵程度可想而知。
