After James T. Callowhill (1838-1917) Oils on Canvas. The first painting depicting a 'Woodland scene' and the companion work 'Fallen Tree' possibly by the same hand, unsigned, inscribed to verso 'Sketch North Wales, approx 14 x 21.5 cms. (2) Note: Born in Worcester England James Callowhill studied at the Worcester School of Art and moved to Brooklyn NY by the late 1880's. From 1853 he worked at the Royal Worcester factory until he moved to New York where he later painted for American porcelain companies based in Greenport and Baltimore.
