众所众知，乾隆一帝文韬武略，成就非凡，但业余好古，尤爱卖弄诗文，经常针对一些宫中遗存旧物賜文题诗。此荷叶笔洗从形制看应是明代之物。乾隆帝根据黄玉红色皮沁的特点，进行御题，并作出了黄金（黄玉色）一片衬红霞（红色皮沁）的精彩点评！释文：清凉境界净真云，那数南方有若耶。山雨昨朝野水涨，黄金一片衬红霞。乾隆辛卯（1771年）仲夏御题。
