A hand bound book of important Chinese paintings collected (& painted) by Chang Ta-chien, with a forward by Shimada Shujiro (dated 1956) with images from the Tang through the Ching Dynasties. Glassine (thin transparent paper) sheets protect each of the prints, with a hard, wrap-around, sliding clasp lid, protective outer case. H: 15 9/16" (39.6cm) W: 11 5/8" (29.5cm) Condition: In good condition. The book's protective case has faded around the edges from indigo to lilac, with a water stain visible on the upper left exterior - which does not extend into the book. A stamp on the inside cover reads: "Pour echange, Musee Cermuschi Bibliotheque. A very mild rippling affects the edge of the pages, which also bear a mild yellowing.
