Raised and incised flower decor; signed and stamped to bottom.Unique piece featuring art nouveau flowers on a dark stoneware ground, with incised marks by artist Edith Lupton and decorator Eliza Simmance. Dated 1886 and stamped with Doulton Lambeth rosette, which has been curiously 'struck through' with a line while clay was still wet- may indicate a special production note or design not intended for sale. A silver plated stopper topped with an imperial German iron cross finial is fitted to the top.
