此步摇由纯金，白玉组合而成，两侧有珍珠和红宝石作为点缀。此步摇呈现飞鹰捕兔之场景。随着佩戴之人慢步前行，飘飘摆动，活灵活现。此步摇做工考究，铸造精良，应为宫廷用品。《释名·释首饰》：“步摇，上有垂珠，步则动摇也。”《后汉书·舆服志下》：“步摇以黄金为山题，贯白珠为桂枝相缪，一爵（雀）九华（花）。”王先谦集解引陈祥道曰：“汉之步摇，以金为凤，下有邸，前有笄，缀五采玉以垂下，行则动摇。”
