广东茂名人。16岁开始学习绘画。1949年移居香港，以教画为生。1973年开始在香港中文大学校外进修部教授国画直至逝世。曾多次在国内外举办作品个展和参加联展。丁氏早年习西画，1929年以后开始研习中国画，并从事篆刻及美术理论撰述。去世后香港举办了丁衍庸遗作展、丁衍庸作品回顾展等，并设立有丁衍庸学业成绩奖、丁衍庸艺术奖、丁衍庸画会等。出版有《丁衍庸画集》、《丁衍庸画册》、《丁衍庸的书画印章》(法文)等。丙辰元月丁衍庸。郑松之印（白文）
