20th-17th century BC. A ceramic figurine of a seated monkey; accompanied by a hand written and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, the late Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham 1970-1993, which states: 'Terracotta figurine, 82x30x32mm. This presents a sitting monkey with front paws on breasts. It was made in a mould with some hand finishing and rests on a backing from the mould. Mesopotamia or Syria, c. 2000-1700 B.C. Condition good.'; supplied with a custom-made display stand. 63 grams total, 82mm (3 1/4"). From an old British private collection; formed between 1975 and 1985. [No Reserve]
