Circa 3000 BC. A carved chalcedony cylinder seal depicting wavy lines and patterns, accompanied by a museum quality impression and a typed, signed scholarly note by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham 1970-1993, which states: 'Design: a pattern of wavey lines: simple such lines at top and bottom, between them crossing wavey lines creating oval shapes each with a diagonal stroke within. Mesopotamia, c. 3000 BC. Condition worn but design clear.'; accompanied by a museum-quality seal impression. 13.06 grams, 25mm (1"). From a private Austrian collection; formerly property of a Mayfair, London, UK, ancient art collector; acquired in the 1970s-1980s; inventory number 72.
