Silber, teilvergoldet. Amethystcabochons, Türkise und Malachit. Onamental getrieben, graviert und punziert. Runde Schale, gebuckelt. Auf drei mit Löwen besetzten Füßen. Mittig aufsteigend abnehmbarer Buckelpokal mit Deckel. Als Bekrönung HL. Georg auf Malachit. Unter dem Pokal bez. M. Strobl, 800. München G.St. Auf einem Fuß bez. 800, Wappen mit Münchner Kindl, M. Strobl. H. 55 cm. 2.980 g.

Max Strobl (1861-1946) arbeitete ab 1891 in seiner von Sanktjohannser überommenen Goldschmiede in der Münchner Dienerstraße, wo er hauptsächlich kirchliche Gerätschaften herstellte. Daneben war er auch auf Schmuck, Pokale und Tafelaufsätze spezialisiert. Stilistisch verband er gerne moderne Elemente mit merowingischer bzw. frühmittelalterlichere Formgebung, wie man auch an diesem hier angebotenen Tafelaufsatz nachvollziehen kann. Der Münchener Ziseleur Florian Zängl kommt in diesem Zusammenhang möglicherweise als Entwerfer für den Tafelaufsatz in Frage.
