Reiter mit Pferd im Hof

L. u. Nachlass-Stempel. Rücks. Bleistiftnummerierung 65. Öl auf Holz. 13,5 x 10,3 cm. Rest. Rahmen.

In einem Innenhof steht ein Reiter bzw. Pferdeknecht neben einem Pferd. Neben ihm zwei Männer, einer von beiden durch seine weiße Hose als Kavalierreiter gekennzeichnet.

Carl Spitzwegs Neigung zu humoristischer Darstellung seiner Protagonisten zeigt sich auch in vorliegendem kleinem Gemälde, das der Künstler in für viele seiner Werke typischer Art auf Balsaholz (Zigarrenkistenholz) ausgeführt hat. Eindeutig karikierend ist die Wiedergabe des Kavalierreiters, auf dessen kaum zu übersehenden Embonpoint der Blick des Betrachters durch die weiße Reiterhose gelenkt wird. Horst Ludwig vergleicht das skizzenhaft wirkende Gemälde in seiner Stellungnahme stilistisch und maltechnisch u. a. mit einer Fassung des "Kakteenfreundes" (um 1865; Wichmann, WVZ-Nr. 740), dem Gemälde "Mädchen im Grünen" (um 1865; Wichmann, WVZ-Nr. 897) sowie "Bei der Storchen-Apotheke" (um 1860; Wichmann, WVZ-Nr. 351).
