A CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE YELLOW-GROUND BEEHIVE-SHAPED WATERPOTLATE QING DYNASTY/REPUBLIC PERIODPainted with phoenix in flight amidst precious objects and scrolling lotus, all between bands of ruyi-heads and lappets, with gilt to the mouthrim, the base glazed turquoise and with a six character Qianlong mark, 9.6cm.Provenance: formerly the property of Elizabeth Lunt (d.2018), Liverpool, who inherited the waterpot from her parents, who were believed to have been missionaries in China c.1915.
