17th-19th century AD. A carved stone rectangular house shrine with two flanking columns resting on a rectangular base, rectangular pediment, crenellated upper screen with square recesses. 10 kg, 28cm (11"). From an important London collection, acquired in the 1970s. Small shrines such as this are particularly popular in Rajasthan where they are built into the fabric of a wall, usually in a house, and contain an image of a family deity.
