Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of ten bronze seal matrices with various shapes and designs including nine accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state: (R-764) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 25 x 24 x 14mm. This is a round disc and flat face and flat back, on which a handle of inverted U-shape is mounted. The design consists of a simple cross and four V-shapes based on the outer rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is covered with incrustation, which could be removed. The metal appears to be in good condition.'; 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 43 x 43 x 14.5mm. This is open-work and compartmented, with flat face and back, with a handle on the back in the shape on an inverted V. The design consists of a Greek cross, the central portion of which is filled with four squares, and each arm with two oblongs. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a very good condition.'; (V-768) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 25 x 15 x 7mm. This is both compartmented and open-work, and bears the shape of the design. That is an oblong grid of lines: the oblong divided into six compartments by one line in the short way, and two lines in the long way. On the back there [is] an angular handle for suspension. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition.'; (U-619) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 36 x 36 x 17mm. This bears the shape of the design, with flat compartmented face and flat back, on which a handle of inverted V-shape is mounted. The design consists of a heraldic eagle, with head sideways at the top, body beneath, and wings spread and curving downwards. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a fine design and in very good condition save that the lower part of the body is missing.'; (U-334) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 25 x 25 x 10mm. This is round, with flat compartmented and open-work face and flat back on which is mounted a handle of inverted V-shape. The design is a Greek cross within the circular outer rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. The rim is a little dented, otherwise the piece is in very good condition.'; (R-490) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 20 x 19 x 14mm. This consists of five rings joined, one in the centre, the others spread around it, with a loop handle of inverted V-shape mounted on the back. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-1900 B.C. It is in very good condition.'; (T-521) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 30 x 30 x 21.5mm. This has the form of an irregular grid with a stalk handle mounted on the back surmounted with a pierced loop. The grid was of roughly circular shape with big inlet at one point. The shapes within the grid are three- and four-sided, but irregular. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. It is in good condition save that part of the outer edge is missing at one side. The somewhat horseshoe shape is rare.'; (T-480) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 18 x 17.5 x 15mm. This has the form of a trefoil with bending arms. The face is flat and the design is reinforced by grooves. The back is convex with a stalk handle mounted in the middle on which is a pierced loop. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. It is in very good condition.'; (P-15) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 27 x 26 x 17mm. This is round, with flat face and flat back, on which is mounted a handle of inverted U-shape. The design, which is compartmented, is a rosette with central circle and eight 'petals' around it. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. There is some damage to the edge, but otherwise it is in good condition.' 115 grams total, 16-44mm (1/2-1 3/4").
