拍品取天然英石为山子，其状似横峰山势，沟壑密布，高低错落，气势磅礴。表面遗存少量渍土，经年历久皮色又转灰白，似皑皑白雪，妙趣横生，为清代文人案头陈设、赏玩之隽品。英石又名英德石，因姿态万千，具有“皱、瘦、透”等特点，契合文人追求的审美意趣，在宋代即已广受珍爱，被视为赏玩佳石。南宋诗人曾丰《余得英州石山》诗赞美曰：“小山欲与岳为曹，其末虽危本则牢”、“湖上飞来小祝融，群青在侧一居中”，足为英石山子的写照。旧配树根形木座。
