清代匏范器颇受皇家重视，康熙时期已在瀛台的丰泽园种植葫芦，并设专人管理。在宫廷的督造下，模制匏器都清朗典雅，工艺精巧。从道光年间起，除宫廷外，王公在宅邸中也都栽种仿制，后世将这些宫廷王府范制的葫芦器，统称为官模子。拍品与常见用于蓄虫的葫芦器形不同，为平底罐形，较为少见。通体范纹一周，应为两瓣木模范制而成。外壁饰缠枝花卉纹，花瓣立体高凸，并烫烙小点为蕊。色如蜜蜡，包浆莹润。官模子葫芦多模印龙凤等吉祥纹饰，而拍品独辟蹊径，饰以缠枝花卉纹，风格典雅，其造型适合在案头几侧置放，可见应为文房赏玩用器。
