来源：日本藏家旧藏说明：自十六世纪，对古代器物的认知成为士大夫必备的学养，成为心灵寄托与休闲赏玩之所在。如此类古器，常成为斋堂书室的清供。本品即为此佳例，造型仿商代方彝而成，造型魁伟，器壁厚重，器身侈口，短颈，腹部呈弧形鼓出，圈足较高，足沿外侈，周身四条厚重的扉棱。主体花纹是阔口獠牙、鼓目曲角兽面纹，以扉棱为间隔，器足环饰鳞纹，兽面布局两两相对。虽无地纹，仍仿造商周样式做凸起的兽面纹，一丝不苟，做工精到。宋代金石学启蒙，在宋代《考古图》和《博古图》等著作中就已经开始对方彝进行了考据，并将器腹侧面与横截面皆为长方形、四隅与腰间有扉棱、方圈足之器称为彝。
