A fine ivory brushpot, bitong17th/18th century|Carved with a continuous scene of two gentlemen seated playing weiqi, the reverse with a boy attendant bearing a dish of peaches before a farmer carrying a hoe, all in a pavilion garden of paulownia, willow and rockwork, beside a fast flowing river with foaming waves.|14.7cm (5.3/4in) high.|Provenance|Similar brush pots to the present lot are illustrated in Chinese Ivories from the Kwan Collection, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1990, pl. 74-76, where dated Jiajing-Wanli (1522-1620).
